Amy King, Director of Marketing & Business Development at Stages Consultants |Theatre Planning and Acoustics Design has accepted the position of Co-Chair, SMPS-NY Communications & Public Relations. She will be working alongside Chair Manjola Gjini, Proposal Manager at AKRF, Inc. These two talented professionals, along with their dedicated team of volunteers, will ensure SMPS-NY’s members receive up-to-date and beneficial communications as it relates to membership, events, knowledge sharing, and professional development. Former SMPS-NY prez Katherine DeMercurio and Nicole Veenstra won awards from the Women Builders Council – Nicole won a Next Generation of Women Builders award and Kat won an Outstanding Women award. Kat and Nicole also participated in the Tunnel2Towers 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, September 26, with Alicia Koledin and Sharyn Yorio. The SMPS-NY team raised $3,630 for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation! Here’s the donation website: https://dogood.t2t.org/team/365601
Another beloved former prez, Andrew Weinberg, announced that his daughter is getting married on Nov. 7th. Congratulations!
Ivoire Lloyd, CF APMP has several updates:
- She hosted her first SMPS-NY event as Chair of Professional Development. The virtual event “Industry Certs – How Many of us Have Them?!” took place October 13 and had a good mix of attendees, and included panelist and fellow SMPS member, Martha Huguet, CPSM. She also completed a two-day WTS International Signature Leadership Program which prepares women to lead the future of the transportation industry by developing professionally and learning how to manage others effectively for the advancement of the transportation industry.
- On 9/11, she was interviewed on LinkedIn Live by fellow SMPS member, Uniqueka Walcott, CPSM for her "Career Conversations", an open forum to discuss and learn more about career paths over the years. - Ivoire is also calling for volunteers for the Professional Development Committee. Please reach out to her at [email protected] to sign up and collaborate to bring informative professional development programming to the New York chapter.
