Design a logo for SMPS New York’s 40th Anniversary and win a ticket to our highly anticipated Annual Liberty Ball in June!
In 1983, the SMPS-NY chapter launched with a remarkable start—200 members strong. The value of knowledge sharing, networking with fellow professionals, and communicating best practices in marketing and business development sparked an undeniable interest in the AEC community and we’ve been helping to transform business through marketing leadership ever since.
As part of the 40th anniversary celebration SMPS-NY is looking for a special 40th anniversary version of our logo which will be used by SMPS-NY throughout the 2023-2024 term. SMPS-NY invites members and non-members to design our 40th anniversary logo. If your logo is selected, you will receive a ticket to the Annual Liberty Ball in June. The 2023 Liberty Ball will be held at the beautifully appointed Dear Irving on Hudson located on the rooftop of the Aliz Hotel! You’ll enjoy spectacular, panoramic views of Manhattan through floor-to-ceiling windows, luxurious terraces, elevated dining options and of course experience the highly regarded, Liberty Awards ceremony.
Important Dates:
- All designs are to be digitally submitted by 11:59 pm EST on Friday, May 26, 2023 (Friday before Memorial Day) to [email protected]
- Winner will be selected by June 7, 2023.
- Public announcement of winner at the Annual Liberty Ball on June 22, 2023
Winner Selection Criteria:
- Originality
- How well it reflects celebration of SMPS-NY and its place in the community
- Feasibility - may print design on promotional/marketing materials such as apparel
Competition Details:
- SMPS-NY Members and non-members are eligible to submit a proposed 40th anniversary logo
- The 40th anniversary logo must incorporate both the existing SMPS-NY logo and include the number “40”

- Must be submitted digitally as high resolution .svg, .png, .pdf, .ai, or .psd file.
- The logo must display well in both color and in black and white
- All designs must be original
- Members and non-members can submit more than one logo design
- One prize, one ticket to the SMPS-NY Liberty Ball will be given to the SMPS-NY member or non-member who submitted the selected logo, and no prize substitutions are allowed
- The winning logo will be determined by the SMPS-NY Board of Directors, who will obtain feedback from committee members
- SMPS-NY reserves the right to not select any of the logos submitted if it deems that none are suitable
- The SMPS-NY member or non-member who submitted the selected logo will be asked to sign a release giving SMPS-NY exclusive rights to use the logo

By submitting an entry, the artist consents that it is their own original work and that they have all necessary rights and permissions to use any included elements. SMPS-NY reserves the right to make adjustments and alterations to the winning entry. The winning artist grants to SMPS-NY the exclusive right to the design, including any modifications thereof, to be used on promotional/marketing and other SMPS-NY materials. The artist shall indemnify, defend and hold harmless SMPS-NY from and against any and all suits, actions, claims, damages, liabilities, judgments, losses and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of any violation of third-party rights (including, without limitation, intellectual property infringement, misappropriation, dilution or violation) in connection with SMPS-NY use, distribution, publishing, sale or exploitation of the design. The artist understands they will receive no royalty payments for the ongoing use of their work. No submissions will be returned. By submitting a design, you are agreeing to all contest rules and guidelines.
