Highlights and Insights from Our Latest Chapter Meeting

On a bright note for our chapter, SMPS-NY recently hosted a dynamic Virtual Town Hall led by our president, Natasha Camarillo, Innovation Communications Specialist at Turner Construction Company. Natasha shared her personal journey to SMPS-NY, introduced our dedicated Board of Directors, and gave members an inside look at what our chapter has accomplished this year—and where we’re headed next.

SMPS-NY Chapter Year Kickoff

Our calendar has been packed with engaging, high-impact programming, including:

• Storytelling and Curiosity in Shortlisted Interviews

• Our annual SMPS NY–NJ Spooky Spirits Halloween Networking Bash

• The ever-popular Coffee and Conversations series

We kicked off the chapter year in style with our Annual Kick-Off Gathering at Legends Bar & Restaurant and continued connecting with members through events like:

• CX Immersion: Lead the Future of Client Experience in A/E/C

• The Long Island Affiliate Spirits Gathering, and more

As Natasha reminded us, “one hour can change an entire year”—a sentiment reflected in our ongoing commitment to meaningful, accessible, and engaging programming.

SMPS supports a vibrant network of 7,000+ marketing and business development professionals across the U.S. and Canada, representing the majority of ENR’s top design firms and contractors. Our core values—Innovation, Integrity, Lifelong Learning, Relationships, and Service—guide everything we do.

2025–2026 Chapter Goals

1. Building Strong Committees

We’re investing in the development of robust, empowered committees, ensuring every member has the opportunity to actively participate and help shape our chapter’s future. This means more ways to contribute your talents, collaborate with peers, and grow professionally in a supportive environment.

2. Strengthening Board Collaboration

By enhancing communication across the Board, we’re streamlining decision-making and staying responsive to member needs. For our members, this translates into more cohesive programming and leadership that truly reflects your input.

3. Delivering Tangible Value to Members

We’re launching satellite programming with regional affiliates and expanding access to continuing education units (CEUs)—bringing professional development closer to home. Our chapter now includes 30 CPSMs and nearly 200 members, strengthening both our network and the resources available to you.

4. Making Data-Driven Decisions for Impactful Programs

By leveraging member feedback and participation data, we’re tailoring events and resources to what matters most. The result? More relevant workshops, timely communications, and programming that aligns with your schedule and career goals.

Listening to Our Members: Survey Highlights

To ensure our programs continue to meet member needs, we distributed the SMPS-NY Member Survey, and we’re grateful for the feedback received.

Key takeaways include:

• ~20% of the chapter responded

• 82% are satisfied or very satisfied with SMPS NY

• 94% say SMPS NY meets their professional needs

• 82% rate our event quality as good or excellent

Members shared that time is a key barrier, so we’re rolling out more hybrid event options and planning further in advance. There’s also strong demand for skill-based learning, which we’re addressing through workshops and small roundtables. And we’re excited to announce the launch of our new AI program series!
